Improve Credit Tip 4: Pay Your Bills on Time

In order to improve your credit, make sure that you pay all of your bills on time. It may seem like common sense, but we can all get a little behind or forget what has been paid that month. Some methods to help you make sure your make your payments on time:
  • Pay your bill the day that it arrives, don’t wait until the due date
  • Set up automatic online bill payments
  • Get in the habit of paying all of your bills on the same dates each month
What if I am already late on a bill payment?

Pay your bill in full as soon as possible! 30 to 60 day late payments are less serious on your credit report when compared to a 90 day late payment. A single 90 day late payment can weigh very heavily on your credit score. Old mild late payments that appear on your credit report can have less of an impact on your credit score in time, so try to pay everything off as soon as you can.
