Citi allows users to link rewards with Facebook accounts

One of the nation's top credit card lenders recently announced that its rewards card members would be able to link their points to their social networking profiles.

Citi recently announced that it was launching the ThankYou Point Sharing App for Facebook, which allows rewards cardholders to pool points they've accrued for specific goals. In addition, the first 4,000 people to sign up for the new app will receive 2,500 bonus points each.

"As our ThankYou members imagine all the ways to use their points this year, this app extends the possibilities," said Ralph Andretta, head of co brands and loyalty at Citi Cards. "With the new ability to pool points together through their social networks, ThankYou members can rally their friends towards a bigger reward, whether they are interested in combining points to book a weekend getaway or supporting a common cause."

Those hoping to have a rewards credit card account may want to check their credit report first. More favorable programs are often granted to those with the best borrowing histories, and unfair markings on their credit report may be unfairly lowering their score, preventing them from earning as much as they could.
