For over a decade, Lexington Law has been honored to partner with the American Red Cross. This partnership has entailed support for veterans, hosting blood drives on site at Lexington Law offices, and connecting Lexington Law employees with volunteer opportunities.

“The American Red Cross does everything, from blood drives to emergency services worldwide. Personally, I have a child who was a recipient of American Red Cross blood twice in his life. For me, it is part of my DNA and my family’s DNA to volunteer with the Red Cross,” said Lexington Law Directing Attorney John Heath.

In addition to blood drives, the American Red Cross also provides aid for natural disasters, health and safety training and certification, services to the military community and their families, and international aid and program support.

When the COVID-19 pandemic spread throughout the U.S. in 2020, maintaining blood drives became even more critical. After over a century of responding to national disasters, the Red Cross readily implemented new protocols to ensure that blood drives could continue safely.

“The Red Cross will always be there to help people in need. The pandemic has adjusted the way that we administer those services,” said Del Brady, Executive Director at American Red Cross. “We implemented extensive sanitation and protective efforts in any service—our teams are constantly wearing gloves or sanitizing between each donor or client and making sure that any donors or clients have been screened for COVID-19 symptoms”

In the last ten years, Lexington Law has committed to hosting a blood drive quarterly, a practice that continued unabated throughout 2020.

“We were very fortunate that the Red Cross was poised to help,” said Mr. Heath. “There was nothing that we really had to do other than have our employees participate in their drives.”

“[Lexington Law] was such an anchor for our blood collection, particularly during this time of the pandemic,” said Mr. Brady. “Your organization maintained blood drives with us and kept holding them and continues to do so. And that kind of reliability is critical.”

As part of Lexington Law’s goal to be a positive force in our local communities, we will continue to host blood drives and keep our employees informed about any available volunteer opportunities.
